"The Umbrella Company™ is a multimedia production company with a focus in developing original content and bringing the vision of others to the screen (big or small). The Umbrella Company™ is a place of inclusion where the subversive, the thoughtful, the passionate, and the curious all fall under the same “Umbrella” - Where what may seem like absurd ideas manifest into unique, hilarious experiences…that (at times) may make you question why you are laughing."
Phil Donohue hates writing in first person—almost as much as he hates writing about himself. He is a writer, director, and photographer who is from the desert. But if you must know, he has worked in every facet of the film industry writing, directing, producing, and shooting various short films and pilots; including content for Warner Bros. and the cult web series “Valley Peaks”. His work as a photographer has appeared in Dwell, Fast Company, and The New York Times Magazine. An avid ornithologist, Phil enjoys birds of all species, especially parrots.
James Zimmerman is an alumnus of The Juilliard School of Drama where he graduated in 2006. He made his on camera debut in “The Education of Charlie Banks” playing opposite Jessie Eisenberg and Sebastian Stan. While he still loves the theater, since moving to Los Angeles he began focusing on comedy writing and acting, performing at UCB, a myriad of web based shorts and honing his skills with the Groundlings Company. While he might be most well known for his commercial work for the likes of Wendy’s, KFC, and Apple, he made a name for himself by writing and starring in the award winning 2012 short “First Time Phone Sex”. James was scarred by an eagle attack in his early teens, and has an intense fear of anything that flies.
Philip Jessen is a writer, director, producer with an extensive resume in the independent film industry. After working as the producer for the Tampa-based production company, Zorya Films, he and long-time film collaborators (Phil Donohue and James Zimmerman) created The Umbrella Company…a space to pursue their vision and develop original content while producing unique content for their clients.
He and fellow TUC teammates, have a history of collaborating with each other, resulting in the cult-favorite web series “Valley Peaks” and handful of award winning short films. His directorial debut “Personal Day” received several awards and nominations. Indifferent about most things, Phil thinks birds are just OK.
